Nature Babycare Eco-Friendly Chlorine-Free Diapers, Size 4 (22-37Ibs), 108 Diapers [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] Review.

"New batches = Chemical Smell FIXED :) NO SMELL!" 2010-04-29
By BellaGood (Vermont USA)

NEW UPDATE: Nature Babycare just sent us some new diapers directly and they have FIXED the smell problem. So, they appear to be back to their high standard (I just put the new diapers on my son this morning, but I am assuming they did not change any of the good qualities of the diapers). So, yes, we can go back to using these. Hopefully the chemically ones will be cleared out and these new ones available from everywhere.

Original review:

We have used and loved these diapers exclusively for our eight month old -- until this latest batch of size 3 (not our first size 3, either). They arrived and I opened a bag and a horrible chemical -- almost burnt plastic type -- smell wafted out. Definitely the diapers, not the packaging. Amazon was fantastic and sent replacements immediately (thank you Amazon!), but they had the same problem. Again, Amazon was great and refunded.

But, I'm sad to say that after loving these diapers not only for their environmental qualities but also for the fact that my son never had a diaper rash with them, we are changing diapers. And I have to recommend against buying Nature Babycare.

And, I emailed Nature Babycare directly. They blamed the packaging and asked me to clarify, but I haven't heard back again since I did. Very disappointed in them. I'm not sure what they changed because we made it through the tab issues of the last revamp this winter, but whatever it was, it was not for the better.

UPDATE: Nature Babycare got back to me again and said they have identified the smell as originating from their all natural glue when it is heated, that it should not be harmful, and that they are working to fix it. Hopefully they'll find a fix soon.

"The best diapers on the planet, for the planet!" 2010-03-29
By N. Pison

I wish I had found these diapers when I had my older kids!

Have been using with new baby for seven months, and they are really the best out there- have tried other natural/earth-friendly brands and like these the best.

Very occasional leaks, but you find that with most diapers- usually only overnight when baby has been all night without a change. For the most part, they are really exceptional.

A couple of comments to keep in mind:

1. We found that there was really no difference in size between size 1 and size 2, so when it was time to move from size 1 to a bigger size we were frustrated that size 2 was just as small. We returned the case and moved right to size 3, which was perfect.

2. We got one case a while back and had leaks like crazy! We looked into it, and found that there was a defect with one particular batch of diapers with a new design. Apparently, Nature Babycare realized it and fixed the problem, and we had no problem returning the case through this seller and getting another batch of the improved diapers.

Aside from these minor glitches, we have been really pleased with the diapers. You can't beat the low impact on the environment, being biodegradable. We do not compost our diapers, but apparently that is possible. I feel less guilty throwing these away knowing that they will disappear instead of infecting the earth forever!

I would recommend these to any parents looking for an alternative. Also, putting them on the subscription plan we save another 15%. Then they become super-affordable, and at that point, they are really less expensive than buying regular diapers in the store.

Couldn't be happier to have found this affordable, earth-gentle alternative.

 "Great diaper" 2010-02-01
By H. Sander (St. Paul, MN)

We started using these diapers for our son when he was 4 weeks old after trying Earth's Best (terrible with many leaks) and Seventh Generation (ok, but not great). He's now 14 weeks old and we've moved up a size. We're quite happy with these diapers and have had very few leaks. Leaks seem to occur mainly when we forget to lift up the internal gussets on the diaper. If you always do this, you shouldn't have any problems. Overall, this is a great environmentally-friendly diaper.

 "Love these diapers!" 2010-03-13
By Michele (PA, US)

Although they size small (for example, my 11 pound daughter and 16 pound son are both in size 3's right now, although he's working towards the size 4s!), these are the best diapers around. Our twins, especially our son, have VERY sensitive skin and these are the greatest. Work great and no rashes! And they are biodegradable! Who could ask for more!!!

 "The best disposable diaper" 2010-03-19
By K. Rivers (Minneapolis, MN)

We cloth diaper and use disposables as back-up or when convenience is important and these are by far the best disposable diaper available on the market. I love the new design! The diapers hold a lot and fit our son well. We've been using them for two years and have not had leakage issues except for occasionally which is to be expected with any diaper. I would HIGHLY recommend these diapers to anyone who needs to use disposables.
